The former Curzon Cinema, widely recognized as Curzon Urmston, located off Bowfell Road in Urmston, Greater Manchester, is being transformed into a modern community center. Originally built in 1936, this Art Deco-style building served as a cinema until its closure in 2008 and has since remained unused. Recently acquired by the Christian Revival Church (CRC), the project aims to repurpose the space for various community activities while preserving its historic character. Brass Architecture has designed a redevelopment plan that retains the building’s iconic façade while introducing contemporary features. The design includes a welcoming coffee shop on the ground floor, flexible office spaces on the second floor, and a versatile auditorium suitable for church services and community events.
We collaborated closely with Brass Architecture to produce high-quality computer-generated images (CGIs) that bring this vision to life. Our visualisations showcase the proposed reception area, coffee bar, coworking space, auditorium, and exterior views, effectively capturing the design intent. These CGIs played a key role in communicating the project’s potential to stakeholders, serving as essential visuals for securing approval in the planning application and public consultation process. We also contributed to the interior styling, working with Brass Architecture to ensure the spaces reflected their desired aesthetic. Using our extensive 3D furniture library, we enhanced the visualisations to present a cohesive and appealing design for the project. This collaborative effort demonstrates how high-quality visualisations can honour the past while creating a vibrant, multi-functional community centre that preserves Curzon Urmston’s legacy and serves contemporary needs.
